Statement

The predecessor of Magican is developed by several app designers who are gathered with same hobbies and based on the common goal: Delivering an easy-to-use and high-effective app, not only helps solving system problems but also simplifies Mac using.

After beta version is out, we set up a small company in Virgin Islands. At present, many of our developers are SOHO and distributed into different areas of different countries.

We believe in Internet sharing spirit and insist on developing user favorite free apps. But lacking of experience at the very beginning made us not that perfect in marketing promotion. Up till now, we have declined many sponsor support for insisting on our original goal. Still we never force putting advertisement to any users or get paid from our users, even if it could help us afford expensive house rent and staff's payments.

Many of Magican apps are available on App Store, like Magican Rest and Magican File. Magican Anti-Trojan, which is released out right after Flashback breaking out and has got Softpedia’s security certification.

Collection of user experience and installation statistics is not allowed unless getting user’s permission, let alone the users’ privacy information. Even if registering as member is volunteered to our users.

From October 2011 till now, Magican has updated 18 times and nearly 200 thousand users have used Magican series apps. Magican will continue updating by adding more features, like antivirus and firewall.

We are sorry for the bothers we brought, no matter for the weakness in app or having not answered all your questions. We will fix that and improve ourselves. Your support are really meaning to us.

Security Center helps better protect your Mac

Several months passed, Magican takes its newly updated Anti-Trojan function to us again. This time, the Anti-Trojan function is no longer limited in a simple little program, but it was integrated into an independent module of Magican version 1.1.0—Security Center.

Not only MagicanAntiTrojan was integrated into Security Center, but also the Anti-Trojan function was enhanced. With the feature of killing Flashback Trojan and Backdoor Trojan (MacKontrol, Sabpab, and Olyx) remained, Magican Security Center also helps you accurately identify and kill more than 30 kinds of stubborn Trojan and their alteration. Let us take a look at how the Security Center kill Trojan completely?

There are three kinds of scanning modes in Magican Security Center: Quick scan, Full scan and Custom Scan. With the help of these three scanning modes, Magican Security Center creates a more solid and safe protection wall for you.

Quick Scan: the pre-existence of this model is MagicanAntiTrojan, which can help users quickly identify the most stubborn four Mac Trojan viruses (Flashback, MacKontrol,Sabpab and Olyx) and completely remove them.

Full Scan: There is no doubt that this mode could have all the disks on your computer completely cleaned up. Since it could sweep more than 30 kinds of Trojan viruses and their alteration, the whole process may take some time.

Custom Scan: If you just want to scan one or several files but the full scan process is too time-consuming. Do not worry, custom scan could help you about it. You just need to draw the file you want to scan into our scan mode plate, and then Magican will help you scan it automatically. As same as the module Full Scan, Custom Scan can clean up more than 30 kinds of stubborn Trojan and their alteration.

Magican also provides users the Trust list. Magican will automatically skip any files that were added into Trust list when scanning. Trust list undoubtedly could save time for your cleaning.

Security center joins in Magican to better protect your computer. It also plays as an important role in the development of Magican All-in-one function. In further update, we will continue strengthening the functions of the Security Center, as well as adding in more other security features to help you better protect your Mac.

Monitor Mac to avoid crawl

Lots of people feel anxious of having cogged apps running underground in their Mac. That's comprehensible, for that kind of situation would turn their Mac to crawl or even make their privacy information filched. Well, here is a way for users to pick those apps out: Detect your CPU and memory usage.

First of all, observe the coming days' top 5 processes which have occupied much CPU usage and memory usage, and record those data for analysis. Activity Monitor and Magican are both the suitable app for you to detect data. You could open either of them to view the processes running.

Tell the regular processes and disordered processes
Normally, high CPU usage or memory usage is evidence-based while running some graph-disposal app, like Photoshop and Illustrator. For some processes which is always list in the top 5 list, don't directly stop running, users could detect the exact data of each process in idle, if it keeps higher than 4 percent of CPU usage that would be a problem. While an app is just started to run or currently in use, they will dominate much processors, even raised to the top one or two at your process list, but this situation won't last long time and would be reduced to the normal part, that kind of apps could also be considered as safe one. If some processes last to occupy much more resource than average even it is idle, that would be a risk signature. Then you need to quit this process.

Quit processes to get Mac back to normal
To quit those processes which lead unconventional high CPU usage and memory usage, while you are using Activity Monitor, pitch on the abnormal item in the list, then click the stop or kill icon on the top left; while you are using Magican, move mouse to the right side of the misbehavior process, then click the pop-up "X" to stop the process.

Monitor CPU to double check
While CPU usage backs to normal, reopen the app to check again to avoid app tech issues. If app runs back to normal after several rounds of detections, you could give it a second chance. If app sustains swallowing more CPU, uninstall this app immediately, and make a security scanning to make sure Mac is safe.

That's one of the thousands methods that would help monitor your Mac and keep it far away from attacking and crawl. It's worth to have a look.

Magican Software redesigns its app to become more Mac-friendly

According to a recent study conducted by Forrester Research, Inc., a global research and advisory firm, the number of Mac users has nearly doubled in the past three years, and thanks to a local Mac software company, Mac users across the globe will now be able to use, search, and download items with ease.

“We have redesigned our logo, website and app UI to make it more Mac style and more easy to use,” said Emma Lynne, market manager for Magican Software LTD, an independent Mac software developing company found in 2010.

Lynne explained that the main features of the app have not changed, but added that the company, which specializes in Mac system optimizing software development, will continue to update its software called Magican with additional features.

Magican, according to Lynne, is a system optimizer for Mac OS X, which helps users to speed up Mac in all directions.

“Magican is totally free, but it has many powerful features,” Lynne stressed, before adding, “Compare it with our competition. It is free without limited features.”

Magican Software LTD’s decision to redesign its app in an effort to make it “easier” for Mac users to use its app could prove to have perfect timing.

According to a study conducted by the Software and Information Industry Association, Macintosh software comprises over 18 percent of all software sold, where Macintosh users use more applications than Windows users, citing “ease” of installation of Mac applications as one of the reasons.

“Our floating window is another highlight,” Lynne noted. “It could be moved to the top status bar and move back to interface easily. It can help monitor the system state in real-time without occupying much desk space. Plus, we are planning on adding features of antivirus and fire wall in Magican future updates.”

Victor Lipp, an avid Mac user and Magican Software LTD customer, said he gives the company two thumbs up for its efforts with the app redesign.

“They have done a wonderful job of building and updating this application,” Lipp said. “Keep up the good work.”

Lipp, however, isn’t the only one who expressed their appreciation for the company’s software and redesign to make it easier for Mac users.

Magican Software customer identified as Adrian, described Magican as one of the best software’s he has ever used.

“I just wanted to say thanks for this fine bit of software,” he said. “It sure saved me a lot of time cleaning out 9.9 GB of useless trash that I would have spent weeks sorting through all files. This is a great product.”

When asked for the main reasons why Mac users should try its Magican software, Lynne said, “It’s free, but safe, and our app is good in quality. It can help users protect their Mac in all directions and we’re also planning on adding features, such as antivirus and fire wall in future updates.”
